Causes:
- Faulty DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter)
- Exhaust leaks before or near the DPF Pressure Sensor
- Leaks in the DPF pressure sensor hose
- Aftermarket accessories and performance modifications
- Improper DPF Regeneration Fluid
- Clogged up DPF pressure sensor tubes/hoses
Symptoms:
- Diminished engine performance
- Decreased fuel efficiency
- Excessive black smoke from the exhaust
- Increased engine temperatures
- Increased automatic transmission temperatures
Possible Solutions:
- Replacing a shorted DPF and run a regeneration to clean the particulate filter
- Repairing the connections to the DPF
- Purchase the correct regeneration fluid
- Remove any aftermarket modifications
