The team at European Exhaust and Catalyst were interested to hear London Mayor Boris Johnson’s announcement this week of plans to offer financial incentives to owners of diesel vehicles to switch to cleaner alternatives, as part of a drive towards meeting European Clean Air targets.
Speaking at the Environmental Audit Committee of MPs, the Mayor laid out plans to pay £1000 to £2000 to encourage the scrappage of diesel cars and their eventual disappearance from London’s roads.
Diesel emissions have been proven to be some of the most deadly vehicle fumes and have been attributed to 29,000 premature deaths in the UK each year.
EU legislation has already meant that a larger number of vehicles need to be fitted with diesel particulate filters in their exhaust system, to trap harmful exhaust particles.
European Exhaust and Catalyst are one of the UK’s largest manufacturers of aftermarket catalytic converters and Diesel Particulate Filters, and provide a wide range of DPF’s, as well as the industry-leading DPF Reset Tool.
