European Exhaust and Catalyst has been manufacturing quality automotive products, including diesel particulate filters, since 1997. Diesel engines and their by-products are a big talking point in the industry at the moment, as they are blamed for a large proportion of harmful emissions. Diesel- fuelled engines are notorious for producing large amounts of particulate matter, or soot, as a by-product of combustion, and can be harmful to the vehicle itself, leaving unburnt hydrocarbons coating the intake and emissions system. Diesel particulate filters (DPFs) can help to stop this becoming a problem for motorists, by filtering exhaust gases to remove the soot, and helping to reduce the resulting air pollution. DPF regeneration is the additional capture and burn off of the soot collected by the DPF, achieved by adjusting fuel injection timing and increasing the exhaust temperature. This may require the diesel vehicle to be driven at speeds over 40mph for an extended time to achieve the high temperatures needed – something that can be an issue for cars being driven in mostly urban traffic. Lots of idling and never reaching a high temperature means the DPF may never get to regenerate, and will eventually become blocked. This is becoming quite a headache for people in the diesel industry, and some vehicle owners are then tempted to remove and clean the blocked part, or send the vehicle back to the manufacturer. EEC have developed a solution for garages, which will enable them to offer preventative maintenance to diesel car owners. We offer a hand-held DPF diagnostics tool, to enable garages to regenerate the DPF while the vehicle is static, identify fault codes and replace the filter. The tool supports vehicles made from 2000 onwards, and covers a substantial range of applications.
The EEC DPF Reset Tool has been competitively priced to ensure that it is available for small factors and garages for a small initial outlay, and comes complete with a protective plastic case.
